On the Record
About the Series
On the Record videos are made by and for high school journalists in Canada. Students are involved in every aspect of the production process: interviewee and topic selection, research, interviewing, filming, editing, and circulation. Now into its third season, the series includes videos on reporting, editing, web design, social media, and more.
The goal of the series is to provide high school journalists with tangible skills that they can bring to their own media projects, while also creating a unique opportunity for student interviewers. Student interviewers are guided through the production process, and gain the experience of conducting a professional interview with a journalist in Canada. Our valued interviewees are role models for high school journalists, and we hope that these interviews can be a source of connection between professional journalists and students interested in learning about this essential industry.
