A Step-By-Step Guide to Making a Kickass News Story

Two journalists will walk you through the process of going from an idea to a professionally published story — whether it’s in your school paper or a major media company. This session will feature two young reporters: Bailey Martens, former HuffPost reporter and features editor at The Ubyssey; and Zak Vescera, health reporter at the Star Phoenix.
 
 

Producing High School Media During COVID-19

Are you part of a high school newspaper, yearbook or broadcast? Join this virtual chat about producing media during the pandemic. Share tips with fellow teen journalists and learn from professional reporters across Canada. All students and teachers are welcome!
 
 

‘Ask Me Anything’ With University Student Newspaper Editors

High schoolers: Join a virtual ‘Ask Me Anything’ session with three university student newspaper editors this Friday!
This will be an informal time for high school students to ask questions, get advice, or just chat with other student journalists. Join via Zoom on video, or just watch from the sidelines.
Chat with Varun Venkataramanan, sports editor at the University of Waterloo’s student paper, the Imprint; as well as Emma Sandri and Tyler Griffin, news and arts editors from the Eyeopener, the student newspaper at Ryerson University.
